Uncovering Light

Letting go of everything…

What we call the spiritual journey is not the acquiring of Light, but its uncovering.

We have lived beneath layers of meaning for so long that we mistake those layers for life itself. Identity, history, family, accomplishment, suffering, personality, and the body form an intricate human story, but beneath the story, something has been living all along.

The Soul was never waiting for the ego to invent it.

Light was present before we knew to look for it.

As the constructed self becomes quieter, we begin discovering that surrender has not taken us toward nothingness. It has opened us into more life.

A livingness beneath personality does not depend on being recognized. An intelligence beneath thought does not need constant explanation. A depth within consciousness can remain still without disappearing.

We begin to sense that our existence may be woven into levels of life far greater than the visible world through which we presently know ourselves.

The human story is one layer.

The body is one layer.

The sensory world is one layer.

And consciousness, capable of becoming aware that these are layers, already carries an extraordinary doorway beyond them.

God is knowing the Soul’s light, not the self-chattering mind in satan.
We’re walking out of this skin into the light for depth.

We have spent much of life looking outward because matter gives the mind something to hold. Yet the deeper movement begins inward, where there is less to grasp and more to become sensitive to.

The Soul does not need to make the invisible tangible in order to live with it. It begins recognizing relationship where the lower mind saw separation. It senses intelligence where the ego saw circumstance. It discovers that stillness is not empty and that the unseen is not absent.

Something beautiful happens as this sensitivity develops.

Life begins to feel larger than the person living it.

Not because the individual becomes grander, but because the individual becomes less central.

We are no longer standing at the center of existence asking what everything means for me. We are awakening within an immense living order and beginning to ask what we are part of.

That shift carries tremendous humility.

The leaf does not need to become the tree to belong to it. The wave does not need to become the ocean in its totality to carry the ocean within its movement. And we do not need to be God at God’s level to carry His Light.

Our livingness can be of Him without being the totality of Him. No human being can encompass God’s totality, but we walk with Him at our level of consciousness. The Soul has always known that we are woven into something divine.

Our lives are not isolated flashes of consciousness floating inside an otherwise empty universe. We arise within orders of intelligence already operating beyond our command, from the unseen intelligence carrying the body to the immense architecture carrying planets, stars, galaxies, life, consciousness, and whatever realities exist beyond the present reach of human perception.

The deeper we travel, the less reasonable it becomes to know that the level visible to human senses is the highest level at which life exists. We instead stand near the beginning of consciousness, and all it can know inside this woven pool of consciousness.

Spiritual maturity becomes less about possessing answers and more about developing the interior capacity to live within greater reality.

The Soul stretches. The thought system loosens. Our need to make everything conform to the familiar diminishes. We become capable of carrying mystery without immediately reducing it to belief. And gradually there is a beautiful uncovering:

we were never merely the costume walking through the world. There was Light beneath the costume. There was livingness beneath the narrative. There was an invisible relationship beneath what appeared separate. And there were greater levels of life surrounding a consciousness that had simply not yet developed the depth to perceive them.

The journey to God becomes an expansion into that greater livingness. Not an escape from being human, but a deepening beyond the human story. Not the destruction of individuality, but its refinement until the individual can participate more consciously in the Light from which life was given.

We remain here, walking the earth, while something within us begins belonging to a much larger order.  Heaven begins there:

when the Soul becomes quiet enough to recognize that it has always been woven into more life than the human mind knew existed.
